The following guides will assist administrators in transitioning from LTI 1.1 to LTI 1.3 for Blackboard Learn.
NOTE: For Blackboard Learn, this process will move all licensed Qwickly products (Qwickly Attendance, Qwickly Course Tools, & Qwickly Jot from LTI 1.1 to LTI 1.3 at the same time. Both LTI installations CANNOT be on the system concurrently. This means those using multiple products to LTI 1.3 simultaneously. All licensed Qwickly products will need to move from LTI 1.1 to 1.3 at the same time.
If you have Qwickly products installed in a test server of your Blackboard Learn environment, we suggest you upgrade that server first to LTI 1.3 to test the process, then move to production. It is recommended that this is completed during a period of low usage and not during an active semester in order to avoid confusion for users in production environments.
This transition to LTI 1.3 will not affect current or existing courses. Data migration is not needed and any existing product settings will remain the same.
Select your data center for instructions:
Blackboard Learn and www.qwickly.tools (USA) Data Center
Blackboard Learn and uk.qwickly.tools (London, England) Data Center
Blackboard Learn and au.qwickly.tools (Sydney, Australia) Data Center
Bb Learn & www.qwickly.tools (USA) Data Center
This process will move all licensed Qwickly products (Qwickly Attendance, Qwickly Course Tools, & Qwickly Jot) from LTI 1.1 to LTI 1.3. Both LTI installations CANNOT be on the system concurrently.
Transition from LTI 1.1 to LTI 1.3
- Navigate to the Administrator Panel.
- In the integrations menu, select LTI Tool Providers.
- In the top menu, select Register LTI 1.3/Advantage Tool.
- Enter the client ID: d6a70d8e-a807-4309-a423-ff64d894c0f8
- Click Submit
- Your browser will display a message asking you to confirm your decision to migrate to LTI 1.3
- The ‘Tool Status’ section will be automatically populated. Please make sure that this is the LTI tool you want to migrate.
- For the ‘Tool Status’ setting, confirm setting is Approved.
- Click Submit to migrate the tool from LTI 1.1 to LTI 1.3.
- You will see a banner indicating your migration within Blackboard has been successful.
Create the Deployment
- Go to Admin > LTI Tool Providers > Edit on the Qwickly Tools provider link:
- COPY the Deployment ID:
- Navigate to the Qwickly Dashboard (www.qwickly.tools) > your instance > click the Instance Keys button
- Paste the Deployment ID for your product or products. It is the same deployment ID for all products.
IMPORTANT: You now must change the Target Link URI in the links in the deployed placements.
Edit the Tool Placement/s
- Go to System Admin > LTI Tool Providers > Manage Placements > Edit for each placement you have listed.
2. In the Tool Provider Information for the placement, replace the Target URI
3. On your QWICKLY COURSE TOOLS PLACEMENT(S), THE NEW URI IS:

4. On your QWICKLY ATTENDANCE PLACEMENT(S), THE NEW URI IS:

6. Test your launch points and functionality of the new LTI 1.3 links.
Bb Learn & uk.qwickly.tools (London, England) Data Center
This process will move all licensed Qwickly products (Qwickly Attendance, Qwickly Course Tools, & Qwickly Jot) from LTI 1.1 to LTI 1.3. Both LTI installations CANNOT be on the system concurrently.
Transition from LTI 1.1 to LTI 1.3
- Navigate to the Administrator Panel.

- Click Submit to migrate the tool from LTI 1.1 to LTI 1.3.

- For the ‘Tool Status’ setting, confirm setting is Approved.
- Click Submit to migrate the tool from LTI 1.1 to LTI 1.3.

Please Note: Some Blackboard Learn users have reported that their Deployment ID changes with each refresh when transitioning from LTI 1.1 to LTI 1.3. This is caused by a bug that sometimes appears in Blackboard Learn.
If you experience this issue, please re-register the LTI 1.3 tool with your Qwickly Client ID again by clicking the ‘Register LTI 1.3/Advantage Tool’ button. This should resolve the issue.
