These settings control the method of grading in the course and allow you to push your grades out into your course's Grade Center. You can use Session Based Grading or Absence Based Grading.
Session Based Grading:
Use this if you want to award points for attending a session.
Use total points to define a total number of points that attendance will be worth.
For example, if Total Points is defined as 100, a student with 2 Presents and 2 Absents in the course will have earned 50 points out of a possible 100.
Points Per Session: Use points per session to define a total number of points earned for each recorded session.
For example, if Points Per Session is defined as 5, a student will earn 5 points each time they are marked present. If a student has 2 Presents and 2 Absents in the course, they will have earned 10 points out of a possible 20.
Column Name: Is the column name in the gradebook you and your students see
Total Points: Is the total points for the column
Absence Based Grading
Use this if you want to award or subtract points per absence. Any criteria entered here will be reflected in the LMS gradebook, not in Qwickly’s attendance records.
Column Name: Name of the column you and your students see in the gradebook
Total Column Points: Total value of the column
Points Per Absence: Define a number of points for each absence. If you want to subtract points per absence, enter a negative number.
If enabled, instructors will be able to define a number of absences a student is allowed to receive before gradebook deductions begin.
Include previously forgiven absences in gradebook calculations once the number above is reached.
In this scenario, if the number of absences forgiven is 1, a student who is marked absent 2 times will receive a 2 in their gradebook column.
Do not include previously forgiven absences in gradebook calculations once the number above is reached.
In this scenario, if the number of absences forgiven is 1, a student who is marked absent 2 times will receive a 1 in their gradebook column.
What the integration looks like on the LMS side
The Qwickly Attendance grade center integration will create only one column in your LMS's grade center integration. If both grade center integration for points and for absences are enabled, then the application will create one points column and one absence column. The column will be named based on the "Column Name" setting described above.
