About the App
The app is available for iOS and Android and currently integrates with Canvas, D2L, and Blackboard. The app allows students to check in for courses that use check in mode, and it allows them to view their attendance record in a given course.
The app mirrors the web based experience, but also includes additional features only available on the app:
- QR scanning - Enables QR codes that must be scanned by the app
- Location Confirmation - Enables location confirmation where the student's device provides information back to Qwickly that they are in the location assigned by the administrator for the course (see below for more information).
Frequently Asked Questions
-
-
What’s the advantage of using the Qwickly Attendance App?
- The Qwickly Attendance allows students to check in faster by showing them open check in sessions and unlocks a new mode of checking in via scanning a QR code.
-
Can students use the Qwickly Attendance App and other devices for check in?
- Yes, students can continue to check in via web browser in their LMS or via the LMS App itself. The Qwickly Attendance App simply offers a new way to check in.
-
If I want to use the QR code option, do students need to use the Qwickly Attendance App?
- Yes, if an instructor wants to use the new QR check in mode, the Qwickly Attendance App is required.
-
Does this have location context?
- Yes, the students self-reporting location context feature (remote vs. in-person) is supported in the mobile app.
-
How does Location Confirmation work?
- Location Confirmation is separate from Location Context. Location context is a STUDENT selection that students make to report their location context.
- Location Confirmation is set up by Qwickly Administrators and those that enable Location Confirmation and set locations for the courses will enable the feature. This feature sends a location to your phone and your device will return "in-zone" if you are within the location, "out-of-zone" if you are outside the boundary of the location, or "unable to determine" if your device cannot determine the boundary or if you have location features disabled on your device.
-
Does Qwickly store student locations?
- No, Qwickly NEVER receives the student's location, Qwickly sends the location of the course to the student's device and the device sends back a notification to Qwickly.
-
What LMSs and Data Centers are supported?
- All clients of Plus and Pro, schools using Blackboard Learn, Canvas, and D2L are supported with Qwickly Attendance hosted in all Data Centers.
-
What current known issues are being reported?
- The app may not be compatible with password managers on the phone, students may receive an error if they try to copy and paste their LMS passwords via the app using notepad or other password management tools.
- Students may experience issues with MFA. There are current no known open issues, but if you do hear reports, please submit a help desk ticket immediately.
- Note: Some schools may have extra steps in their Institutional Login pages such as Single Sign On (SSO) or Multi Factor Authentication (MFA). Schools with SSO or MFA should test the Qwickly Attendance App ahead of time with a student role to verify that such processes do not block the application from completing an Oauth2 authentication workflow. If any issues are observed, the institution should reach out to Qwickly ahead of time via support ticket at https://www.goqwickly.com/support/
-
What if I have problems?
- Inside of the app, there is a "Help" button, use that to send a support ticket directly to us or you can also go to https://www.goqwickly.com/support/
