NFC Check-In Mode allows students to Check-In to an attendance session by tapping their phones to a configured NFC tag using the Qwickly Attendance Mobile App.
Before you can utilize NFC Check-In Mode, you must first create a Room using Location Manager, associate NFC tags to a Room, and associate a Room with a Course. Instructor Experience - Settings
Once NFC Check-In Mode has been enabled at the administrative level, instructors will be able to begin utilizing this functionality within Qwickly Attendance.
A notification indicating NFC Check-In Mode has been enabled will be visible within the instructor's Qwickly Attendance Settings. An instructor will also be able to view which Rooms have been associated with their course at the administrative level.
An instructor can customize the timer associated with Check-In Sessions from within their settings. The Check-In Session will automatically close when the timer runs out. An instructor can enter '0' to eliminate the timer option, and will be required to manually end the Check-In Session by clicking the 'End Check-In' button.
Instructors will need to select the 'No PIN or QR Code Required' option in their Check In settings when utilizing NFC Check-In.
Instructor Experience - Running a NFC Check-In Session
To utilize NFC Check-In Mode, an instructor can navigate to Check-In in the left hand navigation within Qwickly Attendance, just as they would to run a QR-Code or PIN Check-In session.
On the Check-In screen, an instructor will be able to see if NFC Tag Confirmation has been designated as required or optional at the administrative level.
If NFC Tag Confirmation has been set as required at the administrative level, an instructor will see the NFC Tag Confirmation toggle as locked.
If NFC Tag Confirmation has been set as optional at the administrative level, an instructor will be able to turn the NFC Tag Confirmation toggle on or off for each Check-In Session.
The instructor will need to select a designated Room from the on-screen drop-down in order to begin an NFC Check-In session. An instructor can choose from any Room that has been associated with the course at the administrative level when running an NFC Check-In session, depending on the location where class is being held.
Once a Room has been selected, the instructor can begin the NFC Check-In session by clicking the 'Start Check In' button.
Once the NFC Check-In session has been started, the instructor will be taken to the active Check-In screen. Students will be able to begin checking-in by logging into the Qwickly Attendance Mobile App and scanning NFC Tag(s) associated with the Room/Course. As students check-in, the instructor will be able to see the names of students who have checked in to the session and the number of students (out of the total in the course/section/group) who have checked in.
Students must scan a NFC Tag that has been associated with the Room/Course to be marked as present for the session. If a student scans a tag that has not been associated with the Room/Course, they will be marked as absent.
The instructor can utilize the timer option to have the session end automatically when the timer runs out, or they can manually end the session at anytime by clicking the 'End Check In' button.
Student Experience - Checking In/Scanning an NFC Tag
Note: Students must use the Qwickly Attendance Mobile App with NFC Check-In
Once a student has launched the Qwickly Attendance Mobile App, selected their institution from the dropdown, and logged in using their LMS username and password, they will see an active Check-In Session running for their course.
When they click the active Check-In Session, they will be prompted to 'Enable NFC Reader.' Once the NFC Reader has been enabled, students will be prompted to scan the NFC Tag with their phone. Students will receive a confirmation the NFC Tag has been scanned successfully and they have checked in to the course.
