Session Time Value
Session Time Values allow you to student time connected to attendance in a course. If a student attends a course and is marked present, they will receive the amount of session time value the administrator has indicated for that session. Session time value is cumulative for the student, displayed, and can be reported.
How it works:
To set up time values, administrators will upload a data file in the new “Session Time Values” tool located within the “Tools” menu item in Qwickly Attendance Pro. The data file should include the Course LMS ID (or Course Code) and time value (in minutes) you want to assign (see below for an example). For example, if a typical session of Astronomy 101 is 60 minutes long, you could assign Astronomy 101 a time value of 60 minutes. Every time Astronomy 101 records a session, each student present in the session will “earn” 60 minutes. Any status other than present will “earn” 0 minutes. At this time, time values are all or nothing - a student cannot earn part of the session time value if they are tardy, etc. Future iterations of the feature will add additional capabilities.
Where this feature will appear, if set up:
- Instructor settings - if you have assigned a session time value for a course, the instructor will be able to see so in their instructor settings. They will not be able to edit this value.
- Instructor attendance record - if you have assigned a session time value for a course, the instructor will see an additional column in the totals view of their attendance record screen, showing the total number of minutes each student has “earned” in the course to date.
- Student attendance record - if you have assigned a session time value for a course, students in the course will see the total number of minutes they have “earned” in the course to date in their attendance record screen.
- Data feeds - session time value will be included as a data point option in the “Session” section when creating a data feed. If included, the session time value of a course will be included as a data point in the data feed.
- Session Manager - if you have assigned a session time value for a course, you will be able to see so in the Session Manager.
- Instructional Time Report - if you have assigned a session time value for a course, you will be able to run a new report called Instructional Time Report, located within Course Reporting. This report will show how many sessions the course has recorded, how many minutes the course has recorded to date, and the total number of minutes to date each student in the course has “earned”.
Use of this feature is optional. If you do not want to use this feature, instructors and students will not see any changes to their current experience.
